Over seventy years and four generations later, Magnotta Construction Company (MCC) has greatly evolved. Companies throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania have looked to Magnotta for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects ranging from 5,000 to 800,000 square feet in size. Magnotta Construction Company's development is due, undoubtedly, to the ideals that were established at its beginning and still maintained today.

Mark L. Magnotta founded the company that bears his name in 1927. He worked as a stone mason, and performed house raising and house moving.  Essentially, he started as a one-man operation doing general masonry work, masonry veneers and porch construction. His philosophy was simple – do quality work for a fair price and, in all manners of business, act with true integrity. Over the years, he increased his workforce and developed primarily into a masonry subcontractor working on churches, homes and small commercial buildings.

In 1956, his son Paul joined the company and, in 1959, Magnotta Construction Company expanded into general contracting. Based upon its experiences over the previous thirty years, the company aggressively branched out into varying types and sizes of construction projects.  The year 1966 was significant in MCC's history for two reasons. It marked the beginning of Magnotta's involvement in the heavy industrial, warehousing, and institutional markets, and Paul Magnotta's son PJ joined the company. In conjunction with the booming industrial construction market, MCC extended the business to include pre-engineered building construction in 1968.

In 1973, Paul A. Magnotta was named President of Magnotta Construction Company. This signified the beginning of a very expansive period of the company. While remaining active in the general contracting market, PJ Magnotta began developing the pre-engineered building business in conjunction with MCC's growing design-build capabilities. Through the late 1970's and 1980's, the company continued to grow and significantly advanced its design-build expertise.  MCC's design-build projects, once associated with only shell-type warehouse buildings, included more complicated manufacturing and office facilities.

In 1989, PJ Magnotta was named President of Magnotta Construction Company.  PJ has continued the company's growth with expansion into the construction management market, while maintaining an active standing in the general contracting and design-build business.

In 2004 Edward May took over as president and has continued the growth of the company. Ed believes in focusing on the companies rich history and customer satisfaction as well as investing in new technologies to build faster and smarter.
